When the playoffs started, I’d no expectation that the Giants would go very far.In the past they’ve flattered only to disappoint but this time Eli Manning came of age ( finally!).Once they beat Tampa Bay , I was fairly certain they’d whip the Cowboys and they did ( take that Jerry Jones & Tony Romo & Jessica Simpson !).
At that point, I said to myself ” No matter what , the season is a success. ” I didn’t have much hope they’d be able to beat the Packers in the wintry conditions of Green Bay. I settled down to watch without any expectations but as the game went on and the score was still close I began to hope against hope. What a storybook finish: Tied at the end of 60 minutes, losing the toss , intercepting Favre and getting the ball in Packer territory. Then Lawrence Tynes who had already missed two FG’s in regulation making an even longer one . I was drained at the end of that one.
What will happen tomorrow ? Well, the Las Vegas oddsmakers are almost always correct and twelve point underdogs would not seem to have a prayer. This Patriots team is superbly coached, the quarterback and the entire offense are awesome , the defense is smart and underrated and they’re out to crown their perfect season with a Super Bowl win. There doesn’t seem to be any chance at all for a Giant win and yet … and yet… if the Giants can keep it close at the half, I think they could pull off an upset…… Go Giants !
